I am happy because:
- Tonight I am having pizza for dinner. I love pizza. I never have it because I’m pretty much the only one in the house who likes it. But I’m having it tonight! So there!
- I used some of the movie passes the kids got for Christmas to take them to see the newest Narnia movie, “Voyage of the Dawn Treader”. It was good. And Amber was suprised by how much she enjoyed it, so I figure it’s a win!
- Tomorrow is a new day. And a new year, too! I’m so glad to put 2010 behind me, even though it did have it’s good times, I’m just glad to move on!

I am happy because:
- I am in a really great ward, full of really great people. I feel like people know me, and care about me, here. And I feel like the leaders understand me, and understand my needs. And there are people who randomly help me, often anonymously, and they bless my life so very much! I always wish I could tell them just how much they mean to me, to my family! Slowly, but surely, I will get over my total lack of self-confidence, and get to know more people, and really integrate myself.
- Amber and Becca are busy working on latch hook projects that Gramma Jean (my mom) gave them for Christmas this year. The plan is to turn them into pillows. They taught themselves how to do it, by reading the directions! Smart girls! (It’s a bit of a race to see who finishes first!)
- Finally remembered to get my TB test results, so now all I have to do is fax them to my employer along with my jury duty notice and my doctor’s note from when I was sick. I forgot to give it to them, and can be fired if I don’t provide it, as they reminded me. Oops! Anyways, gotta fax that tomorrow, as they have the office itself closed tomorrow. I kept forgetting to get those TB test results, I’m glad I finally remembered!

I am happy because:
- I got a lot done on a quick and easy quilt I am making. I got the “recipe” from The Moda Bake Shop. It’s called “Meandering Path“. I’m making it with “Sugar Pop” fabric by designer Liz Scott. It’s looking very cute so far! I’m going to back it with a twin-sized plush blanket in white. It will be super snuggly! I wont’ have to use batting! The blanket costs less than it would cost to use fabric on the back, let alone putting batting in the middle. I’ll probably do straight line stitching. And I think I might actually bind this one, instead of self-binding it, if I can figure out how to do it! I’m excited, I plan to give this quilt to Karol L., a dear friend of mine who has been there for me for many, many years. She’s helped me so much in many ways, but especially in offering to watch my children when I have needed it (full time, and for years). She’s been watching my littles during the day while school is out (she does this every school holiday) while I am at work. And she has been refusing to accept payment. She told me to bring her cookies or something. So I’m bringing her “Sugar Pop” cookies.
I think I’ll call it “Karol’s Sugar Pop Cookies” and have the kids sign a label with me and stick it on the back.
I’m so excited to give it to her, because I know she will love it. And I don’t think she owns a single quilt, at least I’ve never seen one . . . - I watched a movie with the kids tonight, and it was nice. We have spent a lot of time doing “our own thing” this break, the kids off playing with friends or in their room with toys from Christmas, and myself reading a book or cleaning or sewing . . . it was a nice change to all be in the same room together. Even if all we were doing was staring at the television for two hours. It was nice. Dee came up for a snuggle in the middle, which was great!
- I have a wonderful heater that makes my house nice and toasty when it’s super chilly and wet outside. I am so grateful that it works so well! Yay me!

I am happy because:
- Normally my toes are freezing cold when it’s chilly outside, but tonight I have “toasty toes” because I’m wearing a very comfy, very warm, oh-so-soft pair of fuzzy socks! Yup, I’m rockin’ the fuzzy socks.
- I cleaned two very disgusting bathrooms today (no, not mine) and I didn’t throw up, which was a huge blessing. I guess it was only because the daughter of the client was watching me and talking to me while I worked, and I was focused more on what she was saying than on what was growing on the toilet… I guess there’s something to be said for a good distraction!
- I’m going to start another sewing project very soon! And I can’t hardly wait! Plus, my mom (who borrowed my daughter today for a bit) sent a latch hook rug project home with Becca today that she would like me to turn into a pillow for her (standard bed pillow sized). It’s super pretty (purple pansies, a favorite of one of my favorite people) and super big. I’m a bit terrified that I won’t be able to figure it out, but we’ll see! I love projects, and I love a challenge, even if they freak me out a bit at first! LoL

I am happy because:
- She said “You’re family!”, and I’m pretty sure she meant it!
- I got to have dinner with some of the coolest people on the planet tonight!
- “Banana?” *giggle*

I am happy because:
- I plan to use my gift certificate to Scrapbooks, etc to purchase some “Dragonfly Summer” or “Summer Breeze” – both are pretty fabric lines that are bright and cheerful to me! I really want to add some more sunshine to the house! I can’t wait for these lines to come out, and I am hoping SB,etc carries them when they do!
- Counting your blessings is a good way of keeping those post-holiday blues at bay.
- The kids are with their dad today, which gives me time (after work) to try to put away the Christmas tree. I love Christmas, and I love this time of year, and always drag my feet about puting away the tree, but this year I’ve decided to have it all put away before the new year, so that’s what I intend to do! I am ready to move on, tackle the new year, make resolutions that I can actually keep, etc! Bring it on!
